Volunteer Services

Information Orillia enhances and promotes volunteerism in the following ways:

• In partnership with the Coffeetime Network, we organize an annual Volunteer Fair held at the Orillia Square Mall each fall.
  
  
• Organize volunteer appreciation events for volunteers in Orillia and area. In 2008, in celebration of National Volunteer Week, we hosted a celebration at Best Western Mariposa Inn and Conference Centre. 150 volunteers representing numerous agencies in Orillia attended this event. Agencies included: Helping Hands, the Good Food Box, Alzheimers Association, The Sharing Place Food Bank, and many others.
  
  
• Host bi-monthly brown bag lunches with topics and speakers of interest to area agencies. Topics such as volunteer recruitment and retention, risk management, have been well attended in 2008.
  
  
• Connect volunteers with volunteer opportunities that match their skills, abilities and availability. Potential volunteers can search our Volunteer database on-line or meet in person with our Volunteer Service Coordinator.
  
  
• Assist agencies with volunteer recruitment by allowing them to post their volunteer opportunities on our volunteer database. The Volunteer Service Coordinator will provide consultation at your office or ours to provide training to post volunteer opportunities.
